Performing a Bulk Upload

Looking for some bulk import tools? Perhaps a way to import data from Excel or a CSV file? We are too.

We do have plans to provide bulk import utilities from Excel and Tab Separated Variable files in the future. There are versions of these tools that are used internally here at Metaweb, but they are currently a little too complicated to release out into the wild. The tricky part of doing bulk imports to Freebase is that the data needs to be reconciled as much as possible to existing topics. It doesn't do anyone any good to import a bunch of duplicate data.

During Alpha, you've got a couple of options:

  1. If you're a programmer, you can attempt to write in bulk using MQL
  2. If you have a data set that you think is particularly juicy, you can also contact us. We may be able to help import it for you. A good place to start is by posting a message to this topic's discussion and letting us know what you've got.

Remember that any data you upload is subject to the same terms and conditions as data you input manually -- so we welcome data that is either public domain or of which you are the right's holder.
