Alice et Martin (US title: Alice and Martin) is a 1998 French drama film by André Téchiné. It is his second collaboration with Juliette Binoche after the 1985 film Rendez-vous. Alice et Martin tells the story of two emotional outsiders who through the circumstances of their lives find themselves thrown together. Martin is the 20 year old illegitimate son of a wealthy factory owner. At age 10 his mother sent him to live with his father and his step mother where he has three step brothers. However this is not a happy move and quickly Martin finds himself in conflict with his tyrannical father. Following his father's death Martin disappears and emerges weeks later at his brother Benjamin's apartment. Benjamin is a jobbing actor who shares a small Parisian apartment with musician Alice (Juliette Binoche). Alice is nervous and brittle, obviously harbouring her own private grief.
