Early prototypes and mockups of its technology were well-received at conferences such as XML ’99 and XTech 2000. Failing to receive significant funding in the face of the dot-com implosion and dealing with the aftermath of the arrest of Ben Trafford, one of the founders, it closed its doors in mid-2000. Ben Trafford and Chris Maden were active in the development of the XLink, XPointer, XSLT, and XSL standards from the World-Wide Web Consortium. Ben Trafford and Jon Noring were founding members of the Open eBook industry group.
