Liquid Snake is introduced in Metal Gear Solid as the main antagonist. He is the twin brother of Snake and second of the three cloned Sons of Big Boss (Solidus was the third clone born in a separate batch) produced by the Les Enfant Terribles Project conducted in early 1970s and which were successfully born in 1972. Liquid joined the British SAS and served in the first Iraq War as a teenager at the same time that Solid Snake was serving as an infantry man for the Green Berets, though neither of the two met during this period. In 1991 Liquid was assigned to work as a sleeper agent and destroy enemy rocket installations, but was found out and held captive as a POW until 1994 when he was finally rescued.
