"Love and War and Snow" is the eighth episode of the first season of the television series Gilmore Girls. It originally aired on December 14, 2000. At the town meeting, Luke clashes with the Mayor, and the rest of the town over the annual reenactment of the Battle of Stars Hollow. Luke scoffs at the reenactors, despite the fact that his father was a dedicated reenactor. The reenactors remain outside at their posts all night, despite the arrival of the first snowstorm of the year. As the storm gets worse, Luke eventually softens and brings them coffee and hot chocolate. Lane tries to tell Rory about her crush on Rich Bloomenfeld, her band partner, but Rory is too distracted by school and Dean to listen. Overcome by her crush, she runs her fingers through his hair at band practice, then runs away in embarrassment.
