Punk funk is the term coined by and used to describe Rick James' music. The canonical example is his Street Songs album. A Certain Ratio has also been titled Punk Funk for their scratchy guitar and bass lines. Possibly the earliest classification came from Suicide_(band) around 1972 billing them as "Punk, Funk and Sewer Music by Suicide". full article at wikipedia
