Since the late 1980s he has led bands featuring a drummer, bass guitar player and saxophone player and they have been a prominent feature in the Bay Area blues scene. In 1994, he was signed to Blind Pig Records label and released his first album the following year. He has gained national and international attention since that time, due to his touring, live performances and release of six additional albums. His album Guilty of Love featured the last recording session for John Lee Hooker.
