Fleet Admiral William Frederick Halsey, Jr., GBE, USN, (October 30, 1882 – August 16, 1959) (called "Bill Halsey" and sometimes known as "Bull" Halsey, but not to his face), was a U.S. Naval officer and the commander of the United States Third Fleet during part of the Pacific War against Japan.
