Setting Up Your Personal Profile and Using Your Personal Homepage

This topic covers setting up a personal profile after registering with Freebase.com, and personalized information that is displayed on the homepage when you log in.

Registering with Freebase

Anyone can use Freebase to search for information without registering, but only registered users can create and edit domains, topics, and types, or use features like Filter View exports. Freebase only requires a username, email address, and password to register, and your email will never be sold or re-used.

  1. Click Register in the upper-right corner of the Freebase.com homepage.
  2. Complete the username, email address, and password information. An email will be sent to confirm your email address.
  3. When you receive the email click the link within it and you will be taken to your personal home page in Freebase.

Using Your Personal Homepage

Whenever you log into Freebase you will be taken to a personalized homepage that includes information about your recent activity on Freebase. You can access your personal homepage from anywhere in Freebase by clicking the Freebase logo in the top navigation bar.

There are three main areas on the homepage that contain information directly connected to activity on Freebase.

  • Your bases and Your types tabs lists all the domains and types you have created, as well as the domains where you are a member. Click the name of a domain or type to view it, or Create a base/Create a type to start a new one.
  • Notifications alerts you to replies to your discussion posts, or changes to discussions that you are watching. Click Replies or Watchlist to view the discussion activity, or Topic about you to view changes to your Person topic.
  • Saved Views shows any views you have created of Freebase topics and saved to your homepage.
